House Style Analysis - Kerrang!

The house style for Kerrang! is presented as punky and revolves around the heavy metal genre, there is also language that some would consider controversial or taboo topics to be discussed in a magazine aimed at teenage audiences, topics like depression (which is explored and even used as a pull quote in the double page spread). There also seems to be a bombardment of information and a very crowded look to all pages of the magazine, this can be seen on the contents page. Each page always seems to be busy and packed full of vibrant images or information through the magazine. Red and black are used as these are the colours the logo appears on other issues of Kerrang!. The direct mode of address is maintained throughout the magazine in order to relate and engage with the reader. The writing used on the double page spread keeps in form with the writing used in the logo, as they both have a edgy and distorted design; much like the people presented throughout the magazine (through their words and the clothes they wear)

As can be seen in the two images below, the contents page and the double page spreads don't particularly match as the colours schemes are yellow and black, and then red and grey. The yellow is only seen on the contents page, which suggests it is only a design for this particular page and not something meant to be part of the house style.
